Please keep in mind that the GV is a work in progress, so anything can change as the architects and the administration work through designs and costs.
The location will be in front of Buc Village where the old married student housing was located.
Clark Nexen are the architects. They are working on designs and preliminary costs.
Attached to this email is a concept drawing they have prepared.
The concept drawing shows our vision of a stunning and expansive green lawn with the houses lining both sides of it. Due to the topography of the site, the lawn will be on two levels with a slope between the levels. At the upper end of the lawn will be a two-story multi-purpose building. At the lower end will be a pavilion.
The upper lawn will have six houses of approximately 3,000 square feet each. The lower lawn will have eight slightly smaller houses.
The GV will most likely be built in two phases with the upper level and the multi-purpose building being built as Phase I. When demand from the fraternities and sororities warrants, the second phase will be built.
Hopefully, the architects will have more definite plans and cost estimates within the next 90 days or so.
Some of you have asked about going ahead and starting on your contributions for the new Pike House. You are welcome to do that if you wish. We will keep those donations segregated in the Dean Thomas Housing Corporation account at Consumer Credit Union. If for some reason the Greek Village does not come to fruition, we will refund those donations. Finally, if you itemize deductions on your tax return and are concerned about tax deductibility of your donation, you will need to wait until the ETSU Foundation is ready to start accepting donations for the Greek Village. We will keep you updated on when that can happen.
